Update: an update to the New Zealand maps has resolved the issue that I was experiencing, so am very happy to switch back and start recommending this again. Original review: This has been my go-to mapping app, but recently have been more inclined to fire one of the competing apps due to a display bug whereby some tiles in my city disappear and I cannot navigate properly...

This is clearly a powerful app. However I (68 year old formerly tech savvy) did not at all find it intuitive to use. For instance the first time I tried to use it there were no voiced instructions, just arrows. The second time there was voice, the third time again no voice and different arrow presentation from the first. I could find no menu to control either and swiping did whatever but wasn't intuitive either. I've uniinstalled it and am going to try Waze. btw I've got a Moto-X android phone purchased when that was owned by Google.

Good Good app. But since last update, each day my notification bar ends up with here wg icon with "searching for gps" I did NOT switched it on, neither gps. To make it disappear, i have to tap gps on-off... Are you collecting location data? I turn gps on only when needed. Edit: also im not sure if its bug or, I have had maps downloaded and then i hit update. But i couldnt let it finish so i tap x to cancel update and guess what, all maps deleted! Very cool when u r on ur way... Not reliable anymore

I use it always but can improve This is my app of choice while driving (Samsung S7 Edge) but, as compared to Google's similar app it has two areas of improvements (1) movement (car location) as one drives isnt as fluid and real time on map (2) no shortcut to partially mute voice navigation or switch to alerts only. Only option is to either go to settings menu or to completely mute off music sound. This is not good when one is listening to music via bluetooth in car and driving (have to stop car by the side to change setting)
